Five constructions of gold symbolize the struggle for freedom and democracy during the five years of war. With that setting the scene, the Rose Castle shines upon the pillars of our free society: the rule of law, democracy and humanism. The Rose Castle aims at strengthen the understanding of these treasures and how easily they can be lost.

The Norwegian Constitution Day
The 17th of May is the Norwegian Constitution Day. On this day we dress up in our national costumes, gather with our beloved ones and all together we take to the streets to celebrate. If you choose to stay for this event, you will find the streets full of celebrating people, having kids parades and what we call a "Folkeparade", representing the people and many of our interests accompanied by marching bands. We typically also meet for some food, such that all cafes and restaurants are fully booked this day. The entire country is full of life this day (and you might also get to see our King on his balcony). Bring your finest clothes and join our celebrations!
If you would like to spend May 17 in Oslo and experience the Norwegian Constitution Day celebration we are happy to share that we have reserved a limited amount of rooms at Hotel Bristol from May 16 - 18. We have also made plans of watching the parade together followed by a traditional lunch at Hotel Bristol. If you would like to join our celebrations please contact us directly at martine.mahlum@sintef.no for more details.
