Science for People
Science for People
Dear Class
In our Learner Guide, one of the aims of the course is to develop social and global awareness of science and society. Although this is discussed throughout the course, we are privileged to be able to offer a "Civic Engagement" component to increase our own awareness, and bring awareness of science concepts to the public.
This component will contribute up to (5+20)% of your total mark.
The component has great potential to serve as a boost to your marks!
It will be done as a group project, and will be done in stages.
The Brief
Stage 1
You and your group are going to assume the role of Science Communicators.
You will prepare a brief explanation and/or demonstration of a chosen physics concept, to bring to school learners and the public in an interesting and exciting way!!
Explain and/or demonstrate a complex science concept to school learners/members of the public in a way that can be understood by ordinary people, and explain the relevance of it to our lives in an age where so much misinformation abounds.
Alongside find examples from well-known science communicators.
Choose a concept to explain to the public from:
1. any of the sections that we've done
2. or, are going to do
3. or, even from second year topics
4. or, from any of the imaging modalities/machines
To keep in mind

Think of how you will carry this through practically speaking
Think of how interesting you would find it if you were explaining it to yourself!!
Credit will be given for
