Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. After a commercial art education in Vancouver, June worked in the field for 10 years as an illustrator, graphic designer and art director. Unhappy with the increasing role of computers in the industry, she left commercial art in 1995 to become a full-time fine artist. Leaving Vancouver in 2014, she now resides in Ottawa, Ontario.
Music and dance have always been a big part of June's life and a major inspiration for her work, and many of the musicians in her paintings are representations of her friends. When depicting dancers, June is working from her own experiences of what it feels like to dance, move, and the joy it gives her.
June paints what delights her, light, movement, music, and dance.
