Photopea ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and retain data when you use the Photopea mobile application (the "App").
By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
We collect limited information to provide, secure, and improve our services.
Device model, operating system version, app version, language and region
App interactions, feature usage, and screens viewed
Crash logs, error reports, and performance data
A non-personal device identifier generated by your device (Apple's Identifier for Vendor), used to link your free-usage quota, credits, and subscription status to your installation
Photos and images you select from your photo library or capture with your camera for editing or processing
Text prompts and instructions you type to generate or edit images (including messages in the AI Editor chat)
Masks or drawings you create in tools such as Blur and Remove Object
Subscription status, plan type, purchase and renewal dates, and trial eligibility, received from Apple
We never receive or store your payment card, bank details, or Apple ID password. All payments are processed by Apple.
If you consent via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, the App may access your device's Advertising Identifier (IDFA) so our advertising partner can deliver and measure ads
Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks, rewarded-ad completions)
If you decline the tracking prompt, ads may still be shown but will be non-personalised
We do not collect your name, postal address, phone number, email address, precise location, contacts, or health data — unless you voluntarily send it to us (for example, by emailing our support address).
The App requests access to your camera and photo library only so you can select or capture images to edit, and to save results back to your device. These permissions are optional and can be changed or revoked at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos / Camera. We do not browse, scan, index, or upload your photo library — only the specific images you choose.
We use collected data to:
Provide core app functionality and process your images
Generate AI results based on your prompts and uploads
Track and enforce free-usage limits, credits, rewarded-ad credits, and daily generation limits
Verify and manage subscriptions and restore purchases
Deliver and measure advertisements
Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and automated misuse of our services
Diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and improve app performance
Configure features remotely (for example, enabling or disabling offers and limits)
Analyse aggregate usage trends
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your images or prompts for behavioural advertising.
To generate results, the images you upload and the prompts you type are transmitted over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to our image-processing servers, where they are processed by automated AI and image-editing systems.
Some tools (such as Add Text and Blur) run entirely on your device and send nothing to our servers
Uploaded images and prompts are held only for as long as needed to complete your request and return the result
In the AI Editor chat, a conversation identifier is retained so follow-up edits can build on your previous result during that conversation
Generated results are saved locally on your device so you can view them in History; you can delete them at any time from within the App
If you upload images that contain faces, the following applies:
What we process — Images may include faces, which are processed to apply filters, effects, enhancements, or AI transformations you request.
What we DO NOT collect — We do not collect, store, or derive biometric identifiers such as facial recognition data, face geometry, faceprints, or face templates.
How face data is used — Face-related information is used solely to generate the output you requested. We do not use it for identification, verification, tracking, profiling, or advertising.
Storage & retention — Uploaded images are stored temporarily during processing only and are deleted automatically after processing completes.
Sharing — We do not share, sell, rent, or transfer face data or your images to third parties for their own purposes.
AI training — Your images, prompts, and any face data contained in them are not used to train our own or any third party's AI models.
We use the following third-party services, each of which handles data under its own privacy policy:

You can limit this by declining the App Tracking Transparency prompt or turning off Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Allow Apps to Request to Track, and by enabling Limit Ad Tracking / Personalised Ads controls on your device.
We do not sell or rent your data. We share limited data only when necessary:

Purchase records — retained as required for accounting, tax, and dispute-resolution purposes
Our servers and service providers may be located outside your country of residence. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards, including standard contractual clauses where applicable.
We use HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit, App Check attestation to restrict access to our backend, and other reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. However, no digital system can guarantee complete security.

EEA/UK residents (GDPR): Our legal bases are contract performance (providing the App), legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, service improvement), and consent (advertising identifiers and tracking). You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
To exercise any right, email us at the address in Section 14. We will respond within the period required by applicable law.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a revised "Last Updated" date, and where required by law we will seek your consent. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
