This course is the first of Saxon’s two-course sequence which integrates geometry into the algebraic sequence. This allows a student to get to calculus before graduation. The course content includes equations and functions (linear, radical, quadratic, rational, and exponential), polynomials, factoring, systems of equations, rate, surface area and volume, ratios and proportion, scientific notation, introduction to statistics, and Pythagorean theorem.

This course is for lower middle school students, and is an overview of the world of Engineering. Engineering principles are presented with a Christian worldview. Some of the engineering fields that will be explored are mechanical, computer, biomedical, chemical, electrical, aerospace, and architecture. The class will learn the basic principles in these disciplines and then build and design a project each week. Students work in teams as they develop their designs just like in a working environment. There are lots of hands on activities to demonstrate the lessons and time for discussion on how and why design decisions are made.

Students that excel in engineering typically have a curiosity for how things work. They love Legos, and robots, and enjoy taking apart your appliances! This course continues building STEM skills for the upper middle school student with engaging team projects in 8 engineering disciplines including electrical, mechanical, biomedical, computer, petroleum, environmental, aerospace, and robotics.

Suggested Age: 9th-12th grades
This course surveys the content and theological message of biblical story. Special emphasis is placed on considering the biblical story of redemption as a unified and coherent narrative of God’s ongoing work within his kingdom. Understanding the Bible within historical, cultural, and literary settings is highlighted. Throughout the course the students will begin to develop skills in interpreting the Bible with care and wisdom as well as move toward finding and articulating their place within God’s story of redemption.
