The Brothers of Phi Phi Chapter have made significant contributions across nearly every sector of society. Our distinguished lineage includes influential figures such as:
Former Virginia Governor L. Douglas Wilder: A grandson of enslaved people, he achieved the historic distinction of becoming the first African American ever elected governor of a state in United States history (1990–1994). He previously served as the first African American Lieutenant Governor of Virginia.
Esteemed Attorney Oliver Hill: A titan of the Civil Rights Movement, Hill was a lead NAACP attorney who argued Davis v. County School Board of Prince Edward, one of the five cases consolidated into the landmark Brown vs Board of Education Supreme Court decision. He was also the first African American elected to the Richmond City Council since 1894.
State Senator Benjamin Lambert: Serving over three decades in the Virginia General Assembly, Dr. Lambert was the first African American in the 20th century to serve on the powerful Virginia Senate Finance Committee. He was a dedicated optometrist and legislator known for his coalition-building efforts.
Former Third District KRS Rayford Harris, Sr.: A dedicated educator and political activist, Mr. Harris was a longtime professor at Virginia State University and a former Chairman of the Richmond School Board. He also served on the Virginia Board of Education, contributing to the initial development of the state’s Standards of Learning.
These are only a few. Today, many of our members continue to serve as physicians, orthodontists, lawyers, entrepreneurs, financial planners, realtors, principals, and educators, among many other professions. Building upon this rich, seasoned history and unwavering commitment to service, the Phi Phi Chapter remains dedicated to exemplifying the principles of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift now, and for generations to come.

12/31/09: This list was compiled with the greatest assistance of the following Brothers: Richard "Dick" Foster, Wilbert "Skip" Foster, Rayford Harris, Sr., and Willis Pettis. Other assistance was received from several of the Basileis on the list; some of whom did not always remember who preceded or followed them (or how long they served).
