I had the incredible opportunity to illustrate a children's book written by new author Michelle Hatch. Other than basing the characters after the author's family, I had unlimited design freedom. I sketched all the designs in pencil before completing detail and color work in Adobe Photoshop. I created 21 pages of original artwork along with front and back cover illustrations. This was my largest and most challenging project to date. I am very proud of my first book illustration.

I received a copy of the manuscript to develop illustration concepts. Then I met with the author and we discussed modifications to my preliminary designs.
My illustrations were set in a medieval style to complement the author's words. The use of cartoon characters was designed for popularity with the targeted young audience.
