Place
"Place is a particular area or point on Earth that has a particular characteristic. Every place on earth has a unique location physically and conceptually," (Dastrup). Fones Cliff is an area of land that was taken by the English, including Captain John Smith, around 1608. This land was the home of the three villages listed above. This is also an Important Bird Area, which means this area is dedicated to protecting birds and other wildlife that are native to the area.
Environment
Fones Cliff is a 4-mile stretch of cliffs that rise above the Rappahannock River. The cliffs definitely contributed to the naming of the area and are used to identify it.
