Pacific herring are vital to the environment, economy, and culture of Alaska. However, despite their importance, vital genetic features about the species remain poorly understood. By using modern genomic techniques, researchers at the University of Alaska Faribanks are learning more about herring genetic to better understand and manage herring in Alaska.
