Integrated Science (ESS/PS) Curriculum

These units use the Next Generation Science Storyline Template . I have tried to use similar formatting and wording that the authors of the storylines provided as examples. These storylines were used during the 2017-2018 school, however I will no longer be teaching this course so I will not be updating these materials. Feel free to provide suggestions or your own resources. I hope you find what I have made so far useful.

Science Boot Camp: This short unit introduces students to my classroom and sets the stage for how to think and do like a scientists, as well as how to develop a model and use the scientific practices.

Unit 1: Early Universe to Stars

This unit looks at nuclear fusion in the Sun and other sized stars, the role of energy in nuclear fusion, how atoms are made, where stars came from, and how the universe formed.

Unit 2: History of Earth

This unit studies how the Earth and other bodies in the early solar system formed, the geological processes on early Earth to today, the mechanisms that drive these geological processes, and how scientists use fission and radioactive decay to determine what was happening millions to billions of years ago.

Unit 3: Earth Systems

This unit studies the connection between the different systems on earth, how the impact in one system can affect the other systems, humans impact on the each Earth system, and global climate in the context of the changes being observed in Glacier National Park.
