Dwight Tse is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor equivalent) at the Department of Psychological Sciences and Health, University of Strathclyde. Dwightcompleted his Ph.D. in Positive Developmental Psychology at Claremont Graduate University, supervised by Profs. Jeanne Nakamura and Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. Before joining Strathclyde, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Chinese University of Hong Kong with Prof. Helene Fung.
Dwight's research interests range from positive psychology and well-being science to ageing and lifespan developmental psychology. Broadly defined, his research investigates the dispositional and situational factors that contribute to a good life across the lifespan.
Hi, I’m Jiawan. I’m a third-year PhD student in Psychology at the University of Strathclyde. My research focuses on mindfulness-based interventions for Chinese international students, aiming to enhance well-being, resilience, and academic self-efficacy in cross-cultural contexts. I’m also broadly interested in flow and its links with ageing and education, as well as the potential of artificial intelligence to support psychological research and intervention design.
 Spence Whittaker
Hi, my name is Spence, and I am a third-year PhD Student in Psychology at the University of Strathclyde. I am specifically interested in researching the facilitators of posttraumatic growth in individuals bereaved by suicide. Outside of my studies, I love writing music and being in nature.
Dr. Tess Davies
Dr Tess Davis joined the PhD lab in May 2025 as a post-doctoral Research Associate, working on the COPE Project (i.e. A Comprehensive approach to enhance Older adults’ Preparedness for Extreme heat) alongside Dr Dwight Tse and an international, multi-institution team at the University of Exeter and Simon Fraser University. Her research interests focus primarily on the relationship between sustainable behaviour change and social identities. Her previous research has explored why mainstream consumers find it so difficult to make sustainable food choices, both as individuals and within household environments, and how to tackle barriers relating to plant-based consumption.

Hello, my name is Francesco and I am a fourth-year student. I am an intern at the laboratory and am currently working on two laboratory projects, one regarding flow states and one on the motivators for engaging in a relationship with AI. My research interests extend to evolutionary psychology, a topic on which I am writing my dissertation. In my free time, I enjoy hiking and cooking.
