Công việc của Tâm lý là chuẩn bị tâm lý cho cường độ của những trải nghiệm nội tại; nó tạo ra một không gian trống bên trong, không bị ô nhiễm để đánh thức bản chất thiêng liêng của chính chúng ta.

Theo nghĩa này – Tâm lý học – cách tiếp cận của Phương Tây để chuyển hóa – giống như một người làm vườn chuẩn bị nền tảng của chúng ta để tiến tới phát triển tâm linh bằng cách dọn sạch tất cả rác rến và cỏ dại. Nếu không có tác động thanh lọc và tinh luyện của tâm lý, sự phát triển tâm linh của chúng ta có thể bị ô nhiễm bởi những bóng tối nội tại không được xác định bên trong tạo ra những trường hợp “đi tắt tâm linh/spiritual bypassing” và thậm chí là Chủ nghĩa ái kỷ tâm linh.
