Hi! I applied to Ph.D. programs in Public Policy/Economics in the USA for Fall'24. I am dumping the application materials I used, in the hope it is of some use to someone. The pipeline of Bangladeshi students to top Ph.D. in Economics/PubPol is weak, which leads to there being important information missing for prospective applicants. I tried my best to bring everything that I collected from my peers and mentors into one place. For more information, you can apply to be assigned a mentor from Duke's Graduate Mentorship program, who will guide you through the application process. Best of luck!
I have been fortunate enough to receive guidance from superstars, without which I would have been lost. Forever grateful to Afsana Iffat Khan (MPA, Princeton University; my mentor and guardian angel), Akib Khan (PhD Economics, Uppsala University), Khandker Wahedur Rahman (Senior Postdoctoral researcher, Oxford University). A special shoutout to Shaheryar (PhD Economics, Duke University), who had helped to shortlist schools, prepare for the GRE, and motivated me throughout the application cycle.
Schedule a call with me here if you want me to review your profile, read your SOP, and offer my two cents. You can know a bit more about my journey here.
[Fair warning]: While everything I collated here has come from seniors who have gone onto grad school + professors + forums, I would request you to consult your letter writers, peers, mentors and seniors when you are applying. If anything you see here contradicts what you come to know, let me know and I will check if I am misinformed. Dont sue me pls
