Welcome to the 2026 Peace as a Global Language International Conference
The Peace as a Global Language (PGL) Committee is pleased to announce that this year's conference will be held on Saturday December 19th, 2026, at Josai University's Sakado Campus under the theme:
Reimagining Communities in an Uncertain World: Prospectives and Retrospectives
As communities across the world navigate an era of unprecedented change and uncertainty, new challenges continue to emerge. Climate change, geopolitical tensions, social fragmentation, technological transformation, demographic shifts, and growing inequalities are reshaping the ways in which individuals and communities live, interact, and envision their futures. At the same time, these challenges invite us to reconsider fundamental questions: What does it mean to build peaceful, resilient, and inclusive communities in the twenty-first century? What lessons can we learn from the past as we seek to create more just and sustainable futures?
Marking the 25th anniversary of the Peace as a Global Language (PGL) conference, PGL 2026 offers an opportunity to reflect on 25 years of dialogue surrounding peace, communities, identity, and social justice. By revisiting past experiences, examining historical injustices, and learning from diverse cultural perspectives, we aim to explore how communities have adapted, resisted, and transformed in response to social and global change.
PGL 2026 will bring together scholars, students, practitioners, community leaders, and voices from diverse cultural and social backgrounds to examine both the challenges and possibilities facing communities today. Through interdisciplinary dialogue and the sharing of local and global experiences, the conference seeks to reimagine pathways toward peaceful coexistence, resilience, and mutual understanding.
As we look to the future while reflecting on the past, we invite participants to join us at Josai University in Japan to engage in meaningful conversations about how communities can respond to uncertainty with creativity, solidarity, and hope. Together, let us consider how the lessons of history and the possibilities of the future can contribute to a more peaceful, equitable, and sustainable world.
