Mr. Fay has started his construction company again and is focusing on Mercer Island, Bellevue, Kirkland, and the Eastside. Larger projects considered in Seattle. Mr. Fay is providing homeowners with the lowest construction cost that is economically feasible. Our motto is ‘Driving Down the High Cost of Home Construction’. If you have ever thought that home construction should not cost so much then you are in agreement with Mr. Fay. We use the highest quality finish materials and meet the building code requirements for those phases of construction where the code defines the quality of materials. We also believe in excellent workmanship to provide the homeowner with a beautiful home, well managed, and reasonably priced home construction projects.
The Pat Fay Method Home Construction Company 2009. Gutted a fire damaged 1,900 SF house interior down to studs and remodeled it in Lynwood, WA. in 2009. The construction cost was $67.30 per square foot (SF) including tax. Construction fee (overhead and profit) was not included in this cost. However, Mr. Fay’s standard fee is $60/SF so the project cost would have been approximately $127/SF. The scope of work was to gut the entire house and remodel it to modern standards. The homeowner of this project has provided a recommendation.
The Pat Fay Method Book. Mr. Fay wrote a construction management book for homeowner’s titled, ‘The Pat Fay Method. How to Manage Your Home Construction Project without a General Contractor'. It is an excellent construction management book and may be found on Amazon. Mr. Fay has sold approximately 1,000 copies of the book. It contains valuable information about how to conduct and manage any home construction or remodel project. Mr. Fay has adapted the principles found in his book to the role of General Contractor to build a client’s home construction project at the lowest cost economically possible while maintaining excellent quality.
Construction Management Class 1997-2007 Mr. Fay created and taught a construction management class for homeowners to teach them about the dangers and lessons learned that may be found in home construction. He taught this class privately to homeowners and in Seattle at Discover U for about 11 years (until Discover U closed their doors). Mr. Fay has taught approximately 1,500 homeowners his class on home construction management.
Construction of a 5,000 SF Residence, 1334 2nd St, Kirkland, WA 1993-1994. Mr. Fay and his wife managed the entire planning, design, permitting and construction process for their personal residence from preliminary and final design, permitting, and the subcontracting of all construction phases to build their dream home for $65/SF. Construction prices at that time were in the $150 to $250/SF range.
Site-Office Engineer – Arabian Sundt, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia (a branch of Sundt Construction, Tucson, AZ). April 1977 to May 1979. The company built 2,000 houses for ARAMCO and Mr. Fay was a field engineer on the construction of over 800 houses. Responsible for coordination between the field construction superintendents, the engineering office, and material warehouse. Performed material takeoffs of construction drawings, ordered material from the warehouse, and coordinated the delivery to the construction sites. Also, ran concrete, carpenter, plumbing, electrical, and labor crews in the building of the 800 houses. Mr. Fay learned how to build houses by not only managing the crews that did the work but by also physically working in every phase of construction himself.
