Petra Business Services

About Us...

Petra began helping her community from her Parent's closet in the mid 1980s on 30th and Maple. Being bilingual, she would translate and explain IRS letters to neighbors and her parents' friends. She'd help fill out forms for unemployment, jury duty, and IRS audits. As a Vita Program volunteer, she donated her time at local churches filling out tax forms by hand for free for low-income families. From there, she brought in her family to help her out and moved to different location in Los Angeles. Petra and her husband Gerardo found a location on February 15, 2000. We have since been at our current location on 46th and Central Ave for over 20 years. Now it's a growing family business with 3 generations involved.

Our 2022 office C-19 rule...

While the government is reevaluating c-19 regulations, we are too. Clients are welcome to come inside the office, but we are still social distancing with a clear shield. We require everyone (vaccinated or not to please wear their mask while in the office). Clients are welcome inside our waiting area, but our seating is very limited.

"Car waiting" - For clients that prefer to wait in the car, we completely understand. Please leave your phone number on the waitlist and let us know you'll be outside waiting. We will call and explain your taxes over the phone or via zoom, then you can come in and pick them up.

"Drop-offs" - We are also still receiving "drop-offs". You can drop off your documents and we will call you when they are ready for pick up.

Touchless Payment Options: We take Zelle, PayPal, Online Quickbooks Invoice, touchless and traditional debit/credit cards, (cash too)

Helping answer your telephone questions...

Petra's son-in-law Eduardo and granddaughter Victoria help answer your questions over the phone. We only have one telephone land line at PBS, so to help us answer client's questions we forward the calls to Ed and Victoria.

Our Weekend Warriors...

Recognize these friendly faces that greet you on the weekends? Jose and Jasmine are part our youth-in-training program. Petra's "full circle" commitment: she hires youth that live in the community. Majority of the youth are children of our clients who have asked her for an opportunity to work here. Others have done summer internships, or come afterschool for office learning experiences.

Thanks Karina...

Karina began working here just a few months before her high school graduation. She continued being an important part of the office support team and dedicated about 13 years. We'd like to express our gratitud her dedication here as a valuable team member. We are all thankful for all her years of support and commitment.
