I was a level designer on this project for 5 campaign maps and 2 multiplayer maps.
Campaign maps: Tutorial, Sanctuary campaign #2, Necropolis campaign #2, Haven campaign #3, Inferno campaign #3
Multiplayer maps: Tree of Plenty, Fortress of Honour
My tasks were:
building the gameplay ready maps,
scripting the designed gameplay,
implementing story elements,
balancing, testing, giving feedback...
The proprietary scenario editor was used for this project.
Demo being played at Dreamhack 2011
Used Unreal3 + Kismet. The game was eventually cancelled but few levels (SP campaign, boss fight arena, MP map and a lobby) were created for a TPS massive multiplayer game with 2 levels going through all phases from blocking out the gameplay to reaching final quality environment art.
Objectives received in sequence during the battle
1 - Find the engineer from Squad Alpha
A - Enter the building and use higher ground to your advantage
Destroy the Akrid spawn spots to reduce their numbers
2 - Heal and protect the engineer
3 - Find the bomb
B - Enter the building to the North and use higher ground to your advantage
Secure the area so the Engineer can pick the bomb up
4 - Take the bomb to the Akrid nest
5 - Withstand the Akrid attacks while the engineer sets the bomb
6 - The bomb is set, quickly leave the nest area and proceed towards the extraction point
Caravan campaign map idea
This map's main route goes through the whole map area in an S shape and the middle section of it leads down into a lower area (protected from the harsh weather) which is decorated with the frozen forest tileset.
Players moving through the map on foot will not have to follow this main road as a frozen waterfall and two small acrid cave complexes provides a shorter diagonal route through to the following map. Of course these routes are more dangerous than going along the main route.
There are no lobbies but stationary quest givers can be found on this map at the beginning caravan loading area, at the exit at C and at the old building at D.
