I was born to Rolf Dixon, a professor at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, and Jean Dixon-my heroes in Murray, UT. I grew up in Texas and Utah. In High School I participated in football, wrestling, and track. I also played trumpet in the school band. After Graduating High School in 2004 I spent a semester studying abroad in Paris, France. Upon returning from Europe I served for two years as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Phoenix, AZ. After completing my missionary service I enrolled at Brigham Young University-Idaho where I majored in Financial Economics and minored in Math. Near the end of my studies at BYU-Idaho I met my wife Kaitlyn Gale, and we were married in October 2009. I graduated from the Brigham Young University-Idaho in the Summer of 2009 and immediately began a Masters program in Statistics-Econometrics at The University of Utah. Upon completion of my Masters degree I remained in Utah and worked as a Financial Analyst for Intermountain Healthcare where I learned the value of hard skills like Excel and SQL. I left Intermountain Healthcare to pursue a Ph.D. and graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2019 with a Ph.D. in Finance. My advisers were Eric Kelley, Andy Puckett, and David Maslar. After my Ph.D. I began working in the Division of Economic and Risk Analysis in the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. At the SEC I perform policy analysis and litigation support in short selling, market microstructure, asset pricing, and behavioral finance. Kaity and I are the parents of five children: Maylee, David, Caleb, Eli, and Jenna. In my spare time I like to work in the forest surrounding our home in Virginia, serve in my church community, play with my kids, and build bows and arrows (and the occasional chain mail).
