EDP 6 - Coin Sorter Challenge Design Proposal
Name: Peter Haigler
Directions - MAKE A COPY OF THIS DOCUMENT As you write up your objectives and specific criteria for the challenge, make sure to keep these important points in mind:
Use detailed technical writing skills (no pronouns)
Include as much detail as needed so that any other person can replicate the process
If possible, include detailed (dimensioned) parts as either engineering drawings and/or 3D images
After Approval (EDP steps 7...)
Any information that is deleted should be highlighted in red and the font should be white.
Changes from construction should be highlighted in yellow.
Changes from the evaluation of testing/retesting should be highlighted in blue.
Objectives:
The coin sorter will sort different types of coins. The coins go into the device and it will sort the coins and put them in different storage units waiting for use
Design Strategy:
Testing Procedures:
For my first test, I will probably do one coin at a time, and use different coins to ensure that every coin can get sorted. After I am sure that that will work, I will increase the number of coins to make sure that the system is scaleable.
Schedule:
My goal is to have a completed prototype by Friday, October 7. The weeks before that will be testing and design of the sorter. After that, I will start to explore ways to make my system more efficient and quicker.
