This is a series about the history of Eastern Europe. It will come in five parts.
Part one tells the story of the Age of Migrations and how the states of Eastern Europe got started roughly between the years 500-1200.
Part two tells the story of the fall of Eastern Europe where Mongols, Crusaders, and absolutist empires destroyed the states that formed and took over the region (1200-1800).
Part three tells the story of the birth of Eastern European national sentiments and nation-states, and how they got (mostly) free from the Austrian, German, Ottoman, and Russian empires (1800-1918).
Part four will be about the Eastern European struggle against totalitarian regimes (1918-1991).
Part five will be about freedom from the Soviet Union and the prospects of Eastern Europeans in the modern day (1991-)
