Dr Rameshwar Nath Minocha PESI - BAPS Travelling Fellowship 2025
Introduction:
We proudly announce the PESI- Dr Rameshwar Nath Minocha Travelling Fellowship award in conjunction with PESI-IAPS, Minocha family and BAPS. The award has been initiated and sustained by Minocha family in the memory of Dr Rameshwar Nath Minocha. The fellowship is opened to members of PESI-IAPS and is aimed at providing skill improving opportunities by attending a higher center in UK. The field of interest can be laparoscopic or endoscopic paediatric surgery.
This document outlines the guidelines and other details for the program.
Who is eligible?
Candidate should be an Indian national and a PESI-IAPS member. Both associate and full life members are eligible.
Candidate should be a trainee in Pediatric Surgery pursuing either MCh or DNB Pediatric Surgery.
Candidates within first 5 years after their MCH or DNB will also be considered eligible. There is no age bar.
Candidates who have been granted any other fellowship will not be considered.
Selection committee for the award
The award selection panel will comprise of 4 members
PESI Chairman and PESI secretary (as ex-officio members), one member from Minocha Family and 4th member co-opted by the above 3 persons with mutual agreement (Dr Kirti Rathod for this year too, thanks Dr Rathod for spearheading this )
What does the award cover?
The fellowship grant will cover the following
Return travel in economy class from India (nearest international airport from your location) to London
Visa application expenses
Stay and per diem expenses
Travel insurance purchased
The total amount of grant is capped at 1500 GBP*. Any additional expenses above this amount will be candidate’s responsibility. The funding will be on reimbursement basis. Advance partial support can be considered when the candidate reaches host institution. Financial process will be managed by BAPS through IAC
Timeline for the application process
The awards will be announced in Sept every year.
Application for award closes on 15th January 2025
Announcement of successful candidate – 31st January 2025
Candidate should attend PESICON to be held 14th - 16th February 2025 and will receive a citation for the award in the GBM
The fellowship duration will be minimum 2 weeks -1 month around the dates of BAPS annual congress (July). He/ She will have the opportunity of attending BAPS and will also be encouraged to submit an abstract for poster or oral presentation in Global Surgery Session or International Forum of BAPS.
The selection process:
The applicant will be selected in an unbiased manner By the Award committee. The application process will be completely online through PESI website. Please look for the application tab on PESI website under the section awards.
Program coordinators:
PESI secretary (ex officio) and Dr Ashish Minocha from UK will be the coordinators for the program. We will help you to get required documents for VISA and other support to search for a host.
