Overview & Objectives
This fellowship is designed to advance the skills and knowledge of surgeons specialising in paediatric minimal access surgery (MAS), ensuring the highest standards of surgicalcare for children. The award of this fellowship is based on comprehensive assessment of the skill, knowledge and experience in paediatric MAS.
Fellowship application fee : Rs. 15000/-
(in case a candidate does not qualify in a particular year, the fee can be carried forward for another year / attempt)
Criteria for FPESI (by examination process)
1. The applicant should be a life member of IAPS and PESI.
2. He / She should have presented at least 1 paper as 1st author (oral/video/poster) in the annual conference of PESI in the last 5 years.
3. He / She should have at least 1 pediatric MAS publication in indexed journals as 1st/2nd/3rd/Corresponding author. Presentation of 1 pediatric MAS paper as 1st author (oral/video/poster) in an international conference (e.g. IPEG, ESPES, BAPES, BAPS etc.) will be counted as equivalent to 1 pediatric MAS publication.
4. Candidates must furnish Pediatric MAS Training Certification from an established institute (from Head of the Department or Senior Faculty) or Basic/advanced laparoscopy training certification from nationally acclaimed centres (e.g. CEMAST) to establish competence in Pediatric MAS.
5. On approval of application by PESI EC, candidate has to appear for an online MCQ based theory examination, followed by practical hands-on examination which will be conducted on the sidelines of the annual PESI conference.
6. The number of fellowships awarded per year by examination process are capped at 20 based on merit.
7. Failure to clear the examination process will automatically allow the candidate to re-appear next year without repaying the fees.
Criteria for Honorary FPESI
1. The Exec Committee reserves the right to confer “Honorary FPESI” fellowship , without the examination process, to senior PESI members who have more than 10 years of Pediatric MAS experience and have contributed majorly to the growth of the speciality.
2. The fellowship will be conferred with the appropriate fee.
3. This is subject to approval of the application by PESI EC.
4. Leadership positions in IAPS or PESI, as Chairman or Secretary will also exempt the examination process for the fellowship.
5. There is no cap on the number of “Honorary FPESI” awarded per year.

Introduction
We proudly announce Dr Rameshwar Nath Minocha PESI-BAPS Travelling Fellowship award in conjunction with Minocha family, PESI and BAPS. The award has been initiated and sustained by the Minocha family in the memory of Dr Rameshwar Nath Minocha.
The fellowship is opened to members of PESI-IAPS and is aimed at providing skill improving opportunities by attending a higher Paediatric and Neonatal Surgical institution in the UK. The field of interest can be laparoscopic or endoscopic paediatric surgery, but other areas of interest within the realm of Paediatric and Neonatal Surgery will be given equal consideration.
Who is Eligible?
1. Candidate should be an Indian national, residing in India, and a PESI-IAPS member. Both associate and full life members are eligible.
2. Candidate should be a senior trainee in Pediatric Surgery pursuing either MCh or DNB Pediatric Surgery or within first 3 years after completing their MCh or DNB.
3. There is no age bar.
4. Candidates who have been granted any other overseas fellowship will not be considered.
Selection Committee for the Award
The award selection panel will comprise of 4 members:
- Chairman PESI
- Secretary PESI
- Past Chairman PESI (ex-officio)
- Member or nominee appointed in consultation with Minocha Family or Trustees of Charitable Fund.
BAPS International Affairs Committee will be informed of the selection committee’s nomination, who will forward it for ratification by the BAPS executive committee. Administrative and financial processes will be managed by the BAPS administrative team.
What Does the Award Cover?
The fellowship grant will cover:
a. Return travel in economy class from India to a UK airport
b. Visa application expenses
c. Subsistence expenses
d. Travel insurance
e. Registration at BAPS, if attended
The total grant is capped at £1500. Any additional expenses above this amount will be the candidate’s responsibility. Funding will be reimbursement-based, with possible partial advance support. Financial process will be managed by BAPS through IAC.
Timeline for the Application Process
· • Awards announced: latest by 30th September, 2025
• Application closes: 30th November, 2025
• Announcement of successful candidate: latest by 31st December, 2025
• Candidate should attend PESICON 2026 to be held on 20-23 January 2026 at AIIMS, New Delhi and will receive a citation for the award in the GBM
• Fellowship duration: 2 weeks to 3 months around BAPS congress • Opportunity to attend BAPS and submit abstract/poster presentation (June /July)

The applicant will be selected in an unbiased manner by the panel. Application process is through PESI website (www.pesi-iaps.org) (Awards section).

10. Fulfil visa requirements personally (PESI not liable for rejection).
