PAHS Naval Junior ROTC History

The Perth Amboy High School Naval Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (NJROTC) was first adopted by the Perth Amboy Board of Education in 1979. The first full year of completion was in 1980. The adoption of the program was strongly spearheaded by then President of Board of Education, Mr. Edward Hmieleski, a Veteran of Foreign Wars. and Mr. Frank Sinatra, Schools Superintendent at the time, was also a strong force. The Unit has been awarded the following Naval Service Training Command Awards :

Distinguished Unit with Honors- 1987, 1988, 1990, 1991, 1993

Distinguished Unit -2002-2005

Unit Achievement -1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013, 2017,2018

Completes an average of 2000+ hours of community service
