Compose a Song
Compose a Song
Task Description
In this task, you are expected to compose a song using artificial intelligence technology, such as language models and music creation programs. Your goal is to capture a personal story and transform it into lyrics and a complete piece. The task also involves writing a 500-word interpretation of the song.
Think about a personal story, emotion, or significant event that you want to express through the song. This could be a joyful memory, a challenging experience, a relationship, or a theme that resonates with you deeply.
Put your emotions into words for the artificial intelligence. Your description should involve a detailed explanation of your feelings so that the program can comprehend what you went through at the time of the occurrence(s).
The AI programs will probably not provide you with the final lyrics initially. Your job is to revise the material by reflecting on your true feelings and making changes where necessary.
When you're done with the lyrics, you should consider what style of music you want to generate from them. Language models can help you choose the words to provide to the music creation program so that you get the exact sounds you're aiming for.
In your song explanation essay,
focus on the inspirations that guided you in developing the details and background story for the lyrics,
be sure to mention your experiences with artificial intelligence technology,
and emphasize how you interpret the lyrics and your personal connection to them.

Lyrics
I've been walking through the noise,
Every step's another voice,
You can't even see I'm tryin' to breathe
'Cause your drama's pullin' me underneath.
I’m drowning in the echoes of the fight,
Already lost in the shadows of the night,
I’m screaming, but you don’t hear me,
I need a place where I can just be free.
I just want the world to shut up for once,
Let the noise fade and let it all stop,
I need the silence to find my way,
From all the madness and the heartache.
Every word's like a bullet to my brain,
All this stress is drivin' me insane.
You really don't see I'm about to break?
All this pressure is just too much to take.
I just want the world to shut up for once,
Let the noise fade and let it all stop,
I need the silence to find my way,
From all the madness and the heartache.
I just want the world to shut up for once,
Let the noise fade and let it all stop,
I need the silence to find my way,
From all the madness and the heartache.
What I need is not a piece of your mind,
What I now really need is peace of mind.
Peace of Mind: The Background Story
'Peace of Mind' is a song that I created using artificial intelligence in 2024. Multiple language models have aided me in formulating the lyrics and a music creation program called Suno generated the final version of the song based on the stylistic and generic input I provided.
I created 'Peace of Mind' to be a forceful, dynamic and raw yet vocally driven track because I believe this is the best way for me to channel my strong emotions, such as anger and rage. Ultimately, only such songs have the power to ease the stress and frustration inside me, which is one of the primary goals of both creating and listening to music.
Although I would never dare call myself a true artist, this piece undeniably proves that technology can be an invaluable partner in artistic self-expression. It offers a way for those who want to come to terms with their emotions through art, without necessarily showing any signs of a typical artistic personality.
The lyrics reflect personal experiences I had kept hidden until now. The background story, the basis, and the semantics behind the lyrics are that my university years and the period before them were pretty heavy for me; a lot happened, and it all happened very quickly.
So, when I graduated, I felt it was the perfect time for the world to stop around me and for everyone to leave me alone so I could focus on myself. The lyrics of 'Peace of Mind' capture the moment when my university years ended, and I realized this was what I wanted and needed. I felt overwhelmed, and all I could think about was finding ways to stop everything around me.
I finally got my wish, but to be fair, it wasn’t the world that needed to stop — it was me. I realized that I was the one creating those difficult moments, which made me feel overwhelmed. In hindsight, I feel that I tried to chew more than I could handle, pushing myself to the edge and willingly throwing myself to the wolves. Therefore, I tried to avoid putting myself into situations I wasn’t 100% sure I could handle. Overall, even though I was angry at the world and the people who gave me a hard time, deep down I knew that the person I needed to be furious with was myself, which eventually led me to want to shut myself off. Consequently, it's not just someone else that I’m talking to in the lyrics; I’m actually talking to and about myself.
In the writing process, my goal was to avoid any type of literary devices. Instead, I aimed for concrete and straightforward expressions that depicted reality as unmistakably as possible. I focused on ensuring that the listener wouldn’t have to translate the words or search for the underlying meaning. I find it crucial that listeners are able to decode the underlying meaning of the lyrics; otherwise, it’s difficult for them to fully connect with the message.
Overall, 'Peace of Mind' is supposed to be a powerful song that tells the story of a challenging period in my life in order to help me move on to the next era.
