If we design an airfoil system, the differences between Lift and Drag are more dramatic as the dimensions and velocity are increased. As an example, consider the differences between Lift and Drag when we have an airfoil system with a constant L/D ratio of 10 as illustrated below.
We not only would like to have a large L/D ratio, but we would also like to have a large difference between Lift and Drag which implies that even though the proof of concept prototype is scalable, it may need to be fairly large in order to work because we probably need to have a fairly large difference between Lift and Drag just to overcome the no-load power needed to spin the motor and alternator.
