1. What experience brought you to Grace?

We bought land in Wenatchee in 2004 and at the time there was no Lutheran Church in East Wenatchee. We would come up from Tillamook, Oregon on weekends and long weekends to work on the house and Grace was the closest to us. We would go to church on Sunday morning and drive the 400 miles home. We moved here in 2013.

2. When did it feel like Grace was your church?

Felt it was our church early on – we were missing regular church and seeing people.

3. Why do you feel like Grace Lutheran is a place worthy of your time? What has led you to stick with Grace?

I don’t think of it that way – church is a part of life, without it a piece would be missing. We’ve only missed Easter Sunday – could not get a reservation, life has been revolving around reservations.

4. What are your hopes for Grace Lutheran in the future? What would you like to see your church become?

I like it the way it is! We need younger people but we also need to embrace who we are. People grow up going to a church enjoying it the way it is.

5. Why have you stayed in the Lutheran Church?

We were born into the Lutheran Church. My parents met at Luther House and Phil’s father was a Lutheran minister.

6. How has Grace been important to you in a time of trial?

We’ve had no trials but it has been very supportive of Mom. People for her to visit with is important.

7. Do you think Grace lives by our Mission Statement?

Yes.

8. What could we do better?

It will be interesting to see what happens when we go back. How soon people will push for a music director. Looking can be contentious. Good news for Jameson, happy for him.

9. How are you feeling/thinking about coming back to Grace?

I am ready – really, ready! Feels like “it’s time” to be back in the sanctuary. Outside is good but it’s like camp. Ready to say hi, shake hands, hug when people are comfortable.

10. What would you tell a non-member about GLC?

We are friendly. It can be hard for new people to find their niche and be part of a group, have friends to socialize with outside of church when relationships have been established.

11. Do you feel a part of the community of Grace?

Yes, quilting has made the difference for me since I am not in school or a full time job.

12. If you could make the decisions about the Fox gift what would you like to see?

A new roof. As we sit and look at it during church outside – it is needed. Not a tiny village – we are not set up to manage it. Who exactly is our Outdoor Pantry an outreach to? Lighting will help. We also have lots of unused space. Do we really need a new kitchen? Who would manage it?
