Ask anyone in the south, and that's likely the response you'll get. The Panhandle isn't a large hub for fencing, but we have an active and growing community.
Fencing can refer to the modern sport (as commonly seen in the Olympics), the classical form which is taught at here at PFA, historical (as seen at the club at University of West Florida), and the stage fighting seen in plays and film.
The classical fencing taught at PFA is a continuation of the Italian tradition as taught by Maestro Gaugler. Emphasis on technique, speed, timing, and distance is paramount.
Fencing engages the body and mind in a challenging and rewarding way that builds friendships and discipline. While there are plenty of other physical activities one can engage in for recreation, health, and fitness, when it comes down to it, swords are fun!
