The geological fingerprints of slow earthquakes
Geological Society of America Penrose Conference
Santa Catalina Island, California
NEW MEETING DATES: Friday, April 1 – Tuesday, April 5, 2022
Slow earthquakes are a suite of fault slip phenomena that were discovered around 20 years ago from geodetic and seismic observations. The intervening time has seen a huge amount of geophysical research into slow earthquakes, but geological observations and their interpretation in terms of slow earthquakes are sorely lacking. This meeting will be a forum for geologists and geophysicists to discuss how the existing information from the rock record should be integrated with the geophysical insights, as well as what new geological observations are needed to develop our understanding of the physics of slow slip further.
Location
The Conference will be held at the Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies, located on Santa Catalina Island, California, USA.
