PENPONT PLAYERS PRESENT: CINDERELLA!
Audition Information Pack
Our next pantomime • February 2027
So… you fancy joining the Penpont Players?
Before you register for the workshop, here’s everything you need to know about our production of Cinderella, the roles we’re looking to fill, how our auditions work and what being part of the Players actually involves.
THE PANTO
Once upon a time, in a kingdom not too far away, there lived a young woman who dreamed of something more than scrubbing floors and being bossed around by her wicked Stepmother and her two larger-than-life stepsisters.
Yes, you’ve guessed it, it’s Cinderella - but this is very much a Penpont Players Cinderella!
Expect traditional pantomime ingredients: romance, ridiculous costumes, audience participation, comedy, music, magic, a handsome Prince, a Fairy Godmother, a slipper that causes considerably more trouble than it should… and, of course, two spectacularly silly Ugly Sisters.
Our production is designed to be fast-paced, funny and full of opportunities for the cast to interact with the audience.
HOW WILL THE AUDITIONS WORK?
Q: WHAT DO I NEED TO PREPARE?
A: Nothing!
There is no monologue to learn and no song to prepare. Just come along ready to have a go.
Auditions will take place as a relaxed group workshop.
You'll take part in things such as:
• Warm-up and confidence exercises
• Group games and improvisation
• Short pieces of script work
• Small-group scenes
• Character exercises
• Some simple singing and movement activities
You'll have the opportunity to try different characters and work with other people auditioning.
You won't be expected to stand up in front of everyone and perform a prepared piece.
We're interested in seeing how you work with other people, how you respond to direction, your natural personality and comic timing, and how comfortable you are getting into character.
Most importantly, we want you to enjoy it.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
You don't need to have years of theatre experience.
We're looking for people who are:
Enthusiastic
Reliable
Willing to have a go
Good team players
Prepared to commit to rehearsals
Happy to have fun
Previous experience is welcome, but it isn't essential.
