Political Action
Following last year’s state conference, our chapter had 3 nominated officers for the Southwest Region. Hannah Smith, McKenzie Hustava, and Katelyn Hrdlicka all worked collaboratively in attending annual regional meetings and sharing information with their chapter. Hannah, McKenzie, and Katelyn collaborated with other students and professionals during the region meetings to help our chapter grow more involved.
Our regional officers were also involved with their local county. Hannah attended Washington County Education Association meetings. Through attending, our officers were able to network with other professionals and share information with our chapter on how we could be more involved and informed members of our county.
Evelyn Esek and Kayla Bish would dedicate time throughout each bi-weekly meeting to share important information about issues in education with the chapter. Evelyn and Kayla shared updates about various bills and legislative decisions that would impact educators now and in the future. A majority of members in our chapter contacted local elected officials and communicated information shared with their families and friends to help push for continued change in education. Evelyn and Kayla shared various resources with members to help with finding and contacting elected officials, voting for pro-education officials during the November election, and signing up for PSEA critical alerts.
