Announcement
The Chinese language programs at Duke University and the University of Pennsylvania will jointly host the 3rd international symposium and lesson plan contest on Chinese for Specific Purposes in Durham, USA on May 17, 2025. The meeting will be held in a hybrid format. The symposium aims to critically look at students’ learning needs and the pedagogy in Chinese courses at the advanced level in terms of exploring how to enrich the content of experiential learning as well as reinforcing students’ interdisciplinary skills in a curriculum of teaching Chinese as a second/foreign language. Topics may include business Chinese, engineering Chinese, media Chinese, medical Chinese, legal Chinese, environmental Chinese, etc., for an in-person or virtual course.
You are cordially invited to submit a lesson plan by the deadline of January 20, 2025. An anonymous review process will be applied. Please list your personal and institutional information in the body of the email, and send the lesson plan as a PDF attachment to: DukePennChn4SpecificPurposes@gmail.com.
