Ultrasound Imaging

What is ultrasound imaging?

Ultrasound imaging, also known as sonography, is a non-invasive medical imaging method that uses ultrasound waves to create live images or videos of a person’s internal organs. It is known as a painless and fast method of viewing the inside of the body.

How should I prepare?

Your doctor will inform you on how to prepare for the requested scan. General preparations may include eating or drinking restriction or consumption beforehand, wearing comfortable and loose clothing or changing into a gown.

What to expect:

A qualified sonographer or radiologist will explain and conduct the scan. After the scan, the images and report will be reviewed and signed by a radiologist. The results will be sent to the physician who requested the scan. If a follow-up examination is required, your doctor will explain why and how it will aid the treatment approach. After an ultrasound scan, you can usually resume with your normal daily activities.
