The Pemberville 150th Anniversary Hometown Heroes Program is a heartfelt initiative that honors military service members and first responders, both past and present. The program celebrates the bravery and dedication of individuals who have served or are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces and first responders. It aims to foster community pride and recognition for these heroes.
This project is a way of celebrating the 150th anniversary of Pemberville and the 250th anniversary of the United States. The deadline is past to apply for a sign. We hope you can join us starting May 24th through May 31st to see all the signs displayed North of the shelter house in Memorial Park located on Memorial Drive.
Participants are featured on a 18 x 24-inch sign that displays their name, military branch, photo, and other optional details like service era and honors. For first responders it displays their name, rank, title, organization, and years of service. On Memorial Day, the American Legion Post 183 will call out all the names of the honorees at their service, creating a visible tribute. See the Hometown Heroes Honor Page to see more than 330 honorees.
This program not only honors individual service members and first responders but also strengthens the community's connection to its history and values.
