Proposed Events To Happen in 2026
Starting May 22nd through May 31st – A Hometown Heroes Memorial Walk
The Pemberville 150th/America 250th Committee is going to offer to families/friends of veterans, current service members of the miliary, and first responders the opportunity to honor their hero with a sign featuring the person’s picture and information. This is similar to other towns that have banners on poles. Committee representatives will meet with applicants to get information for the signs. We are hoping to place these signs throughout the village park so community members will be to walk through a path of signs and recognize these heroes. After May 31st the signs will be given to the person applying for the sign for their use. The applicant will pay for the sign and the committee will pay for any other expenses related to the project. The traditional Legion Memorial Day Service will feature these heroes in their service with a reading of all the heroes’ names. The SAL will have the Chicken BBQ after the service.
June 7th – Farm and Field Event - The Great Black Swamp Frogs (baseball team from Sylvania) will be coming to Pemberville to play a Civil War Era baseball match using rules from 1860. The committee is in the process of getting community members to play this team. Community members are invited to come and watch this interesting game played with entirely different rules than the present game. We will be offering baseball related food and souvenirs. It is our hope to also have an antique tractor show at the same event to show the ties farming has to our rural area.
We have invited "Power of Yesteryear" Tractor Club to provide an antique tractor show along Memorial Drive during the same event to show the important ties to our rural community.
Possible plans for a fun kids area and special food will be served.
June 27 – The Pemberville Pool will be the site for a night when families and community members can watch a special movie while floating in the pool.
August 19-22th – · Special Pemberville Free Fair Events – The theme of the fair will give special recognition. Different events, a quilt challenge at the Pemberville Free Fair Quilt Show, and special grant parade participants will honor our anniversaries.
September 14th – A family bike ride through Pemberville and surrounding area. This bike ride will have stops at different areas where families will get information about Pemberville.
September 20 – A silent movie starring the Gish sisters at the Opera House with a speaker and reception to follow. These actors/settings are tied to the State of Ohio. We are applying for a grant from the State of Ohio 250th committee for this.
· Beard Growing Contest – This was a popular event in 1976 and our hope is to recreate this fun event.
· Art Displays – It is early in the planning but we hope to be able to provide the community with art displays featuring area artists.
· Village Picnic – A possible picnic or ice cream social for the community in our beautiful park.
· Possible memorabilia/souvenirs for those community members who collect Pemberville memorabilia.
· Information to be given to area teachers about the Pemberville and USA anniversaries that they can present to their classroom.
· Decorate Your Door Contest
