Encouraging in-practice physicians to add a skill to their practice can be challenging. Incentives can help adoption of POCUS. Gaining department leadership support is a key to success. Here we list several incentive methods that have been successful in some departments.
Register to have educational sessions qualify for CME credit.
Create an ultrasound related QI project. In-practice physicians who participate as part of their learning can also gain MOC credit.
Requires leadership buy-in. Scan shifts without other clinical responsibilities are very helpful in developing POCUS skills.
