Peer Impression: a common framework for raising tolerance and mutual understanding in Europe
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project is based on the research we did that revealed that students have to face some unpleasant patterns of behavior, such as bullying, verbal and physical aggression, peer pressure and rejection. Our Project includes activities that are focused on mutual understanding, tolerance, multiculturalism, and civic spirit. The project aims to develop empathy by intercultural cooperation and communication among five European countries. The Five Factor Model strategy is used to promote willingness towards experience, conscientiousness agreeability, extraversion and neuroticism. This method will enable our students to become more aware of the European values and prepare them to live in a multicultural society.
The project “PEER IMPRESSION” involves 5 schools from 5 European countries: PT,IT, GR, RO, TR. According to the SWOT analysis done by each partner in their institution, the partners indentified a series of common needs that lead to the decision to implement a project about tolerance.
AIMS
The project will develop the students’:
-awareness regarding multiculturalism
-willingness to take action, free thinking, cultural knowledge
-respect for all human beings
-digital competence and level of English
We will use ICT tools to do research, write and edit our materials, and present the results of the project. All these activities will develop the students’ self-esteem, self-control and self-confidence.
The project will improve ICT, foreign languages, Arts and will develop creativity and innovation through collaboration and communication. Each partner school is responsible for the dissemination of the project locally and nationally.
WORK PROCESS
The project has the duration of 3 years. As it is an Erasmus+ financed project, there are two short-term exchanges on the first year of implementation and two other on the second.
Before the short-term exchanges, the students get to know their peers on the eTwinning forum. After the event, once they return, guest students present their products to other potential partners and will ask for their suggestions, which may be included as an improvement to the project itself and the further activities being developed. The purpose of raising tolerance and mutual understanding will achieve a wider community and provide students and staff with new perspectives and intercultural exchange.
