I am Pedro Monteiro, Ph.D., CFA, an Assistant Professor of Finance in the Department of Finance and Economics at the Kania School of Management at The University of Scranton, Pennsylvania. I received both my Ph.D. in Finance and my Master of Science in Finance from Florida Atlantic University, and I earned my Bachelor's in Business from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
Before pursuing my Ph.D., I worked in the financial sector, serving in various roles, including fixed income analyst, derivatives structurer, and private wealth manager. I have been a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder since 2018.
My teaching expertise spans a diverse range of courses, including Derivative Securities, Advanced Finance, Principles of Financial Management, Financial Institutions, and Advanced Managerial Finance, catering to both undergraduate and graduate students. I was honored with the 2021 Excellence in Ph.D. Student Teaching Award at the College of Business at Florida Atlantic University.
My research includes published and working papers that cover various aspects of finance, such as hedge funds, corporate short-termism, international markets, and entrepreneurial finance.
