Bio Sketch

Pedro Monteiro, Ph.D., CFA is an Assistant Professor of Finance in the Department of Finance and Economics in the Kania School of Management at The University of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Pedro received both his Ph.D. in Finance and his Master of Science in Finance from Florida Atlantic University. He also received Bachelor in Business Degree from Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. 

Before his Ph.D. studies, Pedro worked  in the Financial sector, serving in  a multitude of roles, including fixed income analyst, structurer of  derivatives products, and private wealth manager. He has been a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder since 2018.

Pedro's teaching expertise spans a diverse range of courses, including Derivative Securities, Advanced Finance, Principles of Financial Management, Financial Institutions, and Advanced Managerial Finance, catering to both undergraduate  and graduate students.  Pedro was honored with singular 2021 Excellence in Ph.D. Student Teaching Award at the College of Business at Florida Atlantic University.

Pedro has published and working papers covering different aspects of Finance, including hedge funds,  corporate short-termism, international markets,  and entrepreneurial finance.
