Transforming the case report into a dynamic, experiential learning process. Dr. Nelson has created a new category in the literature. This is a dynamic, interactive case report grounded in adult learning principles. This is a great opportunity for fellows and faculty to submit new dynamic case reports.
Dr. Kinane’s research focuses on 3 areas, 1) Using genetics to define the underlying pathology in lung disease and then using gene therapy to correct these defects, 2) using mathematical modeling, artificial intelligence, in sleep medicine to define the site of obstruction in obstructive sleep apnea and to define the prognostic makers of asthma outcome and 3) using exercise physiology to understand the physiological basis of long haul COVID19.
Dr. Peter Moschovis leads a research group with two areas of focus, 1) The effect of air pollution and childhood pneumonia on long-term lung development, and 2) Mobile-phone-based devices for monitoring respiratory physiology and diagnosing respiratory disease.
Dr. Lael Yonker is the Director of the MGH Cystic Fibrosis Center and her translational research focuses on infection-driven inflammation in the airway. The Yonker Laboratory, which is part of the Mucosal Immunology and Biology Research Center at MGH (https://www.massgeneral.org/children/mucosal-immunology), is funded by the NIH/NHLBI and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Specifically, she focuses on innate inflammation in response to airway infection with Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, her team has also been leading the efforts to understand how children are affected by SARS-CoV-2 infection and vaccination. To do this, she has established a biorepository of specimens collected from infants, children and adolescents with COVID-19, Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C), vaccinated children and controls, with over 1,900 children currently enrolled.
