Greetings Aspiring PSI Staff member

We hope you read this in good health. We have have a few reflective questions you need to ask yourself as you you have shown interest in being a member of the Pedagogical Science Institute family. 

• What problems in society do you want to solve?

• Are you enthusiastic about teacher education and the complexities that come with it?

• Are you a young person interested in not just being vocal about the need for a change in the Education system but wants to be part of the transformers of the education system?

• Are you selfless enough to acknowledge that you will can take away sometime away from your day to day experiences to make this change possible?

If you answered yes to all the above questions then you may just be the person this institute is looking for. The Institute was established in 2021 with a team of 15 volunteering instructors and 66 students enrolled in its founding year. With a turn out of 103 student applications within 15 and a half hours of the application process for the 2022 Academic year for YO2. In 2022 the institute received up to 250 plus applications from first year students a sight for growth and envisions to admit up to 200 students in total for the 2023 Academic year from Y1 to Y3 which then necessitates we have even more instructors, academic and administrative support staff to meet the capacity of students and to ensure quality service provision onwards. We need a team of dedicated staff members who are willing to embody the institute as their own in the provision of exceptional academic services for the 2023 Academic year and beyond where possible.  A few questions you may be asking yourself as you consider applying are postulated and responded to below:

1. What expectations do we have for Instructors and support staff who will be successfully selected in the application process?

• Instructors and support staff are expected to depict exceptional professionalism in all facets of their service provision

• Should be a team player as we use an organ system of functionality for the general success of the program where each one does their part for the general success of the program

• Should demonstrate exceptional understanding in the course they are willing to instruct in 

• Should be willing to learn from fellow staff and improve how they practice their pedagogy and admin work

• Should be willing to form part of administrative roles in the program which serve as the heart that leads to the functionality of all academic roles in the institute 

• Should be willing to perform the instructor responsibilities such as the hybrid symposiums & Seminars, equip themselves with tech platforms of the institute for the completion of the work required, assessing student progress, marking, and giving constructive feedback to students enrolled in the PSI CANVAS LMS

• Should be willing to attend staff meetings and workshops 

• Attend various workshops academic and administrative in the assistance with training the staff to improve their pedagogical practice in the program and admin work in the program. 

2. What support will instructors get from the Institute in doing their work?

• Tutors will do a training module which will equip them with all expectations from the program

• Tutors will have to attend special workshops from the P.S.I Recruitments & Tutor Development committee in improving certain aspects of their tutoring 

• Tutors will receive academic support for their own academic work in equipping them to be  best academics possible. 

3. Do PSI Staff members get paid?

• The Institute identifies as an NPO (Non-Profit Organization), thus has not been made to make money as its an academic entity and not a profit company like other program as we understand the struggles of a student thus depends on donations and sponsorship for  instructing resources for day to day needs therefore will NOT afford to pay staff. 

• All the 30+ staff members at present are not paid and are still giving it a 100% in the provision of academic services. 

4. How will the selection process go?

• The program is fully formal and thus follows the formal route of applications. Aspiring staff members will submit their applications in the designated application dates & No late applications will be accepted. Applications open between 18 September at 00h00 to 28 October at 23h59.  

• The panel dealing with applications will shortlist the applications for formal interviews to be conducted which will be done in person at a venue to be announced to successful applicants. Thus, if we do not revert to you with an interview invitation by the 30 October 2022 23h59 then consider your application as unsuccessful.
