Coding for Kids

What is Coding?

In simplest terms, coding (also called programming) is telling a computer what to do.

Even the youngest of children, four and five years old, can learn the basics of coding.

Scratch is a visual programming language targeted primarily at children. Using Scratch, users can create online projects and develop them into almost anything by using a simple block-like interface.

Tynker is a complete learning system that enables everyone from beginners to advanced programmers to code with intuitive, interest-based activities. Tynker's self-paced courses let kids experiment with visual blocks before progressing to intermediate programming and even languages like JavaScript and Python.

Code.org® is a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to computer science in schools and increasing participation by women and underrepresented youth. Our vision is that every student in every school has the opportunity to learn computer science, just like biology, chemistry or algebra.
