José Chong is an urban development and international cooperation specialist with over 20 years of professional experience. He has a proven track record in managing global programs focused on urban planning strategies, urban regeneration, and public space policies within international organizations. As the leader of the Global Public Space Programme in the Planning, Finance, and Economy Section of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, he has played a pivotal role in advancing sustainable urban design. His work includes serving as the technical coordinator for urban planning and design initiatives across Latin American and Arab states and advising numerous national and local governments on sustainable urban policies and strategies. José holds a degree in International Cooperation, with additional specializations in Urban Development, Post-disaster Architecture, Renewable Energies, and Sustainable Architecture and Urbanism.
