From 14 to 16 October 2025, participants from Trondheim (Norway), Kathmandu (Nepal), and Nairobi (Kenya) gathered in Nairobi for a three-day international workshop. The aim of the event was to consolidate and grow the outputs and outcomes achieved so far to promote a new Community of Knowledge and Practice on People Centered and Resilient Spaces related to Urban Rivers (PEARLS).
The first part of the workshop, held under the motto “Policy, Advocacy & Knowledge Exchange,” showcased international good practices through presentations and an exhibition of case studies. Local stakeholders, project partners, government representatives, and institutions came together for dialogue, reflection, and panel discussions. These sessions highlighted rivers as vital urban lifelines and provided a platform for sharing institutional updates and policy perspectives.
The second part, guided by the motto “Civil Society & Practice Exchange,” convened the Flowing Together Coalition (FTC) to explore the State of the Rivers 2025. Coalition members strengthened coordination efforts, shared experiences from ongoing initiatives, and jointly identified priorities and strategic positioning for 2026.
The workshop marked an important step in deepening global collaboration and fostering resilient, people-centered approaches to urban river management.
