I have openings for a number of positions to work with me at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore.
Why Join NTU: NTU is a world-class research university consistently ranked in the top 20 universities in the world in computer science by the most recent ARWU, QS and THE rankings. It is situated in the vibrant and cosmopolitan city-state of Singapore. English is the main language of Singapore.
PhD Students
I am always looking for talented and motivated PhD students to work with. Applicants should have a good bachelor's degree in computer science, or mathematics with strong interest in theoretical computer science.
Although PhD applications are handled through a central application portal at NTU, you should contact me before applying if you think you might want to work with me. Note that the application deadlines indicated online are often flexible. Please email me (pranjal.dutta@ntu.edu.sg) with:
a copy of your CV
the transcripts
a few sentences motivating your interest.
While I cannot respond to every inquiry, I do read all of them, and I will get in touch if I feel there is a fit.
Successful candidates can expect a generous tax-free stipend, full tuition fee coverage, travel funding to top-tier conferences, and eligibility for on-campus accommodation at subsidized rates. There are different funding opportunities available (contact me before applying): Nanyang President's Graduate Scholarship (for all), SINGA (for international students), NTU Research Scholarship (for all), among others.
Currently, I do not have PhD funding available. However, candidates with an exceptional CV are encouraged to get in touch. In rare cases, scholarships may be available for Singaporean citizens, permanent residents, and international students.
Postdocs
I sometimes have openings for postdoctoral positions. This depends on my funding situation at a given time, which changes frequently, so if you are interested, please email me with a copy of your CV to check if I have an opening.
Applicants should have a PhD in computer science and a strong track record of work in theoretical computer science (broadly construed). Please refrain from emailing me if your research area does not significantly intersect with mine, as I will not be able to respond.
Successful candidates will be offered a globally competitive salary and benefits package, as well as travel funding to top-tier conferences.
There are also a limited number of prestigious (global) postdoc fellowships available (please contact me before applying):
Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral fellowship (LKYPDF) for all, NTU Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship (PPF) for all, Maria Curie (MSCA) for EU and UK graduates (but not only), NTU AI-for-X Postdoctoral Fellowship for all wanting to work on projects that are in the intersection of Complexity theory and Machine Learning.
Research Internships
If you are already at NTU, please feel free to send an email to me. If not, please note that we do not provide funding for internships. If you are an international student, the following list contains funding opportunities you may apply for.
