The laboratory of Dr. Md. Faruque Miah always invites applications for undergraduate, graduate (MS, M.Phil, PhD) and post-doc positions. By utilizing integrative experimental approaches, his group are to seek novel and translatable insights into the biology of economically important fish species in Bangladesh. His lab also offers research opportunity in clinical and hematological aspects of hemoglobin disorders in Bangladeshi population, with a goal to initiate newborn screening in the country. His group is actively collaborating with the world-class researchers from home and abroad. The highly interdisciplinary and collaborative environment provides unique career development opportunities for trainees. Full-time graduate students receive a guaranteed stipend (approximately ৳100,000-250,000/year).

Two MPhil/PhD positions are available

Two three-year-long MPhil/PhD position in the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet is available immediately in the group of Prof. Md. Faruque Miah. The student will conduct doctoral research focusing either on (1) human chromosomal anomalies or (2) seaweed tissue culture amd genetic assessment.

Interested applicants should have a Bachelor's and a thesis-based Master’s degree in biotechnology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, fisheries, or other closely relevant fields and should like to further develop in the relevant fields. Applicants should also have good verbal and written communication skills in English.
