Every year since 2017, the civic association, Prievidza Chemical Society, has awarded several prizes to talented chemists from secondary schools as a motivation and support for their career growth. We are proud to be at least a small part of the stories of these young people, who we believe will one day play a leading role in the development of science and the knowledge economy in Slovakia.

The PChS Council Award for successful representation of Slovakia at the International Chemistry Olympiad has so far been represented by 9 exceptional talented students who have won 2 gold, 5 silver and 8 bronze medals for Slovakia at competitions in Nakhon Pathom (2017, Thailand), Bratislava and Prague (2018), Paris (2019) and Istanbul (2020, online). Not only PChS, but the whole Slovakia is grateful to our participants for their fantastic representation of our country in the world.
The PChS Award was created to support participants in the Slovak national round of the Chemistry Olympiad in the highest categories of Slovak grammar schools (cat. A) and secondary vocational schools (cat. EF). We reward the best students in individual theoretical and, since 2020, also practical disciplines of competition. The individual winners receive one of the world-class chemistry textbooks, which will help them in their later study of chemistry at university. We believe that the PChS Award will help the winners to learn in depth about the secrets of chemistry and will contribute to the growth of the next generation of representatives who will make unforgettable name to Slovakia and not only at international competitions with a chemical theme.
>> The summer internship was canceled due to the covid-19 pandemic in 2020, unfortunately. <<
The summer internship is for the best participants of the Slovak national round of the Chemistry Olympiad (CK ChO) in categories A and EF, as a reward for the best of the best. We will reward the exceptional success and hard work of the winners of CK ChO with the opportunity to spend several summer weeks in scientific research group in a top chemical laboratory. This year, PChS joined forces with the Czech Experientia Foundation and under the supervision of the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in Prague, we will support the winners of CK ChO and enable them to experience chemical research in one of the research groups from 13.7. (from 20.7. in case of participation in IChO in Turkey) to 4.9.2020. The trip and stay will be fully paid. The only condition is reaching the age of majority before the start of the summer internship.
Scholarship of Miroslav Kozák is the youngest addition to individual PChS activities. We are honored to name this award after one of the best high school teachers in the history of Slovakia (you can find more about PaedDr. Miroslav Kozák here). In the spirit of his lifelong enthusiasm, enormous commitment, systematic work and deep support of its students, PChS decided, in honor of Miroslav Kozák, to financially support high school and university (up to bachelor) talented students, who wish to participate in a short event or internship in chemistry in order to deepen their knowledge, but they cannot make their dream come true for financial reasons.
>> In 2020, we will support several high school students on their way to the annual chemistry camp, the Summer School of Chemists. Feel free to sign up! Information for those who are interested in the Miroslav Kozák Scholarship can be found HERE. <<
PChS career support aims to help students grow professionally from high school to tertiary education through direct consultation. The Prievidza Chemical Society brings together members who have become scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers or are still students. We have extensive experience in scientific work, education or business, not only in chemical fields. It is our pleasure to share our experience and help younger colleagues navigate the turbulent waters of career growth.
