About Us

MISSION

The mission of the PCOM Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program with Osteopathic Recognition is to provide all residents with the medical knowledge, surgical skills, and ethical values, enriched with osteopathic principles and practice, in order to achieve proficiency and competency to practice as an orthopedic surgeon upon graduation and to prepare residents to compete effectively for fellowships.

VISION

The vision of the program is to create a diverse, and inclusive residency program, foster an environment of lifelong learning espousing osteopathic principles and practice, and to adapt to the ever-changing landscape of the healthcare environment.

"The outstanding feature of this residency is its breadth. The program is a comprehensive approach to orthopedic education, both in terms of academics and hands-on orthopedic training. It encompasses every facet of orthopedics that practitioners must deal with when they are out practicing on their own."

 Max Stepanuk, D.O.

PCOM Orthopedics Program Director (1990-2015)

The Orthopedic Surgery Residency program at PCOM is among the largest and best programs in the country.  There are few, if any, osteopathic or allopathic orthopedic surgery programs in the country that can compete with the breadth and quality of  the orthopedic surgeons that train our residents at PCOM orthopedics.  For over 40 years, PCOM's training has provided residents the fundamentals of diagnosis and treatment for orthopedic conditions and the fracture care necessary to graduate and practice orthopedic surgery at a high level across the country.  As a result, our graduates consistently gain acceptance to the finest and most competitive orthopedic surgery fellowships in the nation.

The program includes all the components needed to become board-eligible after graduation through the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery
