The Precision Clinical Nutrition Research Lab at Ewha Womans University integrates cutting-edge multi-omics approaches — including genomics, metabolomics, and nutritional epidemiology — to unravel the molecular and behavioral underpinnings of chronic metabolic disease. Our mission is to advance precision nutrition: moving beyond population-level dietary guidelines toward individualized, biology-informed nutritional strategies for disease prevention and management. We investigate how dietary patterns, food behaviors, and nutritional status interact with genetic architecture and metabolic phenotypes to shape risk for metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, hyperuricemia, hypertension, and beyond. Central to our work is the integration of polygenic risk scores, gene–nutrient interaction analyses, and Mendelian randomization frameworks to establish causal nutritional inference at scale.

We are committed to translating genomic and nutritional science into clinically actionable precision interventions — bridging the bench, the population, and the plate.

한국연구재단 우수신진연구로 진행된 커피 섭취와 대사증후군 관계 연구가 주요 언론에 보도되었습니다. 신다연 교수 연구팀은 5만 8천여 명 대상 멘델 무작위화 분석(유전적 차이를 이용해 원인과 결과의 인과관계를 추정하는 통계 분석)을 통해 한국 성인 남성의 커피 섭취가 대사증후군 위험을 약 30% 낮춘다는 사실을 규명했습니다.
