Jong-Wha Jung was born in Busan, and grew up in Daegu, Korea. He carried out undergraduate and graduate studies at the College of Pharmacy, Seoul National University, receiving his Ph.D. in 2009 under the guidance of Professor Young-Ger Suh. He then undertook postdoctoral study at the Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Seoul National University. He moved to the Department of Chemistry, Stanford University in 2010 and continued his training with Professor Eric T. Kool as an NRF postdoctoral fellow. In 2012, he came back to Daegu and joined the faculty at the College of Pharmacy, Kyungpook National University. His current research interest lie in the synthesis and application of organic molecules at the interface of biology and medicine.
