Innovation Expo is open to grades 3-5.
No, it is completely voluntary. There is no grade involved if they do participate.
No. Instead, students will be assigned a mentor that will give feedback. We will do our best to assign a mentor with some expertise in the category that your child has entered. Mentors will look at the displays starting on February 20. It would be beneficial to have your child be prepared to speak about their project to their mentor. This should be no longer than 3-5 minutes.
Yes! They can work in a group of any number of students and it can cross grade levels. For instance, a 4th grade student can work with a 3rd grade sibling or friend.
Absolutely! Just make sure you meet all the criteria that is being asked. The idea is to become an expert in the category you entered.
Not at all. We would love for you to be there, but if you can't, PLEASE leave your display up for the Family STEM Night on February 23.
Displays should be picked up and taken home on Friday, February 25th.
Not at all! But keep in mind that there are many parts to the project. All members need to watch the lesson videos and contribute. It can get very frustrating for team members to feel like they are doing most of the work, so be careful!
You are not limited in the size. If you make a large one, then you need to take a video of it to present as part of your display. You should also bring in part of the machine. For instance, what did you use to start? How did it end? Was there a favorite part in the middle? Pictures are also encouraged on the display.
