WHAT IS INNOVATION EXPO?

The Innovation Expo will be a part of STREAM Night at Pearre Creek. It is so much more than a traditional science fair! It enables students to explore interests and share their talents in STREAM through the following six categories:
Category #1: Innovation
Category #2: Invention
Category #3: Scientific Inquiry
Category #4: Reverse Engineering
Category #5: Science Fiction Writing
Category #6: Rube Goldberg Machines
The Innovation Expo is open to students at Pearre Creek in grades 3-5. Students may enter as individuals or groups. They can also enter more than one category, as long as all the criteria is met. See below for more details on the categories, timelines, and rules.

- Have you ever seen an invention and thought you could improve it?
- Do you look at objects and see another use for them?
- Would you like to share something you built from another idea?
- Would you like to submit your idea to Little Inventors, a creative education organization in England?

- Are you a fan of Shark Tank?
- Do you have a lot of original ideas and inventions you've made? Would you like to share one of your own inventions?
- Did you have a great idea for 2nd grade "Market Day" and want to take it a step further? Or just have a new idea?
- Would you and your parents like to submit your idea to Kid's Idea Tank?

- Are you a curious person who always wants to learn more?
- Do you think about why something happened, ask questions, and make observations?
- Do you investigate things that interest you and then share them with others?
- We're you wanting to do the traditional Science Fair project? Would you like to get some tips from NASA? If so, this might be the project for you!
- Have you ever been curious about the inside of toys, machines, or other objects?
- Do you like to tinker around with tools?
- Do you enjoy taking things apart? Putting them back together?
- Do you find enjoyment reading the directions on packages?
- This cool category is all about learning from the inside out. Click on the category to find out more!
- Do you like to write? Do you enjoy having others read your stories?
- Could you create a story about time travel, robots, technology, or space?
- Have you ever thought about writing your own graphic novel?
- Using some ideas from EPIC to guide you, this one might be the category for you!

If you've never heard of Rube Goldberg before, don't shy away. This might be just what you've always wanted to do.
